The Local Journalism Project opens the 2026 Winter Reading Series with local author, Kai Potter. Kai will be reading from his book, Noticing: The Quiet Season on Outer Cape Cod.

Noticing is a collection of essays and intimate depictions of the natural world on Outer Cape Cod, arranged along the seasonal arc of our quiet time. It is personal in its specificity, but universal in its appeal to be curious about and notice one’s surroundings.

Kai says he’s recently been inspired by reading Mary Heaton Vorse’s Time and The Town, so it is fitting that we’ll gather with tea and treats, in her home for this reading.
